The Company

  • 1975
    The company Dieter Oertel Chirugische Instrumente was established by founder Dieter Oertel as a one-man operation. The first products were surgical instruments for the ear, nose and throat sector and were sold almost exclusively in the USA.
  • 1983
    A dwelling was constructed with a factory. Dieter Oertel Medizintechnik emerges.
  • 1984
    The son Ralf Oertel began an apprenticeship as a surgical mechanic and received a three-year education.
  • 1986
    He completed the one-year technical college with honors and finished his education.
  • 1996
    He successfully passed the master examination in surgical mechanics. Over the years the number of employees increased to 8 persons, whereupon the move to a larger factory began in 1998.
  • 2003
    The company was transferred to the son Ralf Oertel. The company was renamed to OERTEL MEDIZINTECHNIK.
  • 2004
    The CNC manufacturing of turned parts was introduced to the production line.
  • Up to 2006
    Further innovations such as laser welding and CNC milling have been introduced.
  • Since March 2010
    OERTEL Medizintechnik is certified according to DIN EN ISO 13485:2003+AC:2009.
  • 2014
    Further steps were taken by performing the validation of processes: Cleaning, Passivation, Laser-etching and laserwelding.
  • 2016
    Introduction of the new product line "Surgical instruments for veterinarians"
